New Single 'Heavy Rain' Press Release

Akaye glam-rockers Mulga Bore Hard Rock have shared their relentless third single, “Heavy Rain”, out now via Community Music.
“Heavy Rain” was sparked by one of those wild Australian downpours, born on a night when the lightning and thunder felt like they were tearing Alvin’s house apart. The chaos brought AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” to mind, and he instinctively reached for his guitar. With his phone, he recorded the sound of the storm and began to picture the scenes that come with it: families running for cover, people filming the sky, and the strange calm of falling asleep outdoors as thunder rolls and the stars disappear behind thick clouds.
Alvin says on today’s single: “It was December last year, nearly Christmas here in Mulga Bore. Rain started pouring down, it didn’t stop. Bad weather like a thunderstorm, lightning everywhere and then boom! Lightning strikes near the house, I was really scared. My legs were shaking, kids were screaming, parents were like ‘Shhhhh, stay quiet’. So I had to get my guitar out and just played random songs, and then this feeling started coming on about the rain.”
Alongside the news, the band have announced their forthcoming tour of the Northern Territory, kicking off in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on Tuesday 29 July for Jump Inn Jams, then to Garma Festival from Saturday 2 August to Monday 4 August, Katherine Beat Festival on Wednesday 6 August and finishing at Darwin Festival on Friday 8 August.
The release follows the band’s first two singles, “Young Men” and “Sweet Home Mulga Bore” with the latter added to rotation at Double J, triple j Unearthed, fbi.radio, 2SER, RTR FM and SYN FM. The tracks also saw widespread love from NT News, Rolling Stone Australia, ABC Indigenous and more. Earlier in the year, the band ignited stages in Wadawurrung at Meredith's Golden Plains, performing alongside the likes of PJ Harvey and Fontaines D.C., as well as Port Fairy Folk Festival and their own headline show at Collingwood institution, The Tote.
Mulga Bore Hard Rock bring a uniquely authentic voice to the Australian rock scene, seamlessly blending their cultural heritage with a dynamic sound that transcends their small desert community. Comprised of Thunder Child (Alvin Manfong - vocals/guitar), Desert Demon (Kirklen Bird - bass/vocals), Desert Dingo (Aiden Manfong - drums), Queen of Hearts (Niara Tilmouth - vocals/tambourine), Star Boy (Tryell Bird - guitar/vocals) and Black Diamond (Talvin Bird - bass); a group of teenagers aged 15 to 20 years old. Defying any expectations around their age, the six-piece commanded the stage when they were invited to support rock legends KISS at their final Australian tour date—an extraordinary achievement for a band with no music released at the time. Their performance made such an impact that KISS personally praised them, marking a pivotal milestone early on their journey. Recently, the band captured the hearts of Australia’s music industry at Bigsound, where they were named one of Double J's “finest acts” from the event, and at SXSW Sydney, receiving widespread acclaim from outlets including The AU Review, NME, Backseat Mafia and The Underground Stage.
Let this tenacious band tear your roof off with their track “Heavy Rain” today.
